Established in 1992, the Young Alumni Award is presented annually to an outstanding graduate of the last 10 years who has shown leadership and inspiration to young alumni through club participation in events of a social, spiritual, community service and/or continuing education nature. The 2008 Young Alumni Award winner is:
Gage C. Dungy '00
Gage C. Dungy ’00 is honored for serving as both a leader and an inspiration to his fellow young alumni through club participation. Gage continually demonstrates his leadership qualities as president of the Notre Dame Club of Central California. In this role, Gage has used his experiences and education to invigorate and inspire other alumni through a series of new events, programs, and activities.
Following graduation, Gage attended the University of California at Davis Law School, where he served as student body president during his third year. Gage then practiced as an attorney with the law firm of Littler Mendelson in Fresno, CA. He currently practices with the law firm of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore.
Upon moving to Fresno, Gage quickly became involved in the Notre Dame Club of Central California. He helped organize a group of local alumni to hold informal football game watches during the 2004 season. The success of these events sparked alumni from the area to become more involved with the club and inspired Gage to run for president in February 2005. After his election, Gage drafted and incorporated club bylaws and installed club officers to help support the group’s infrastructure.
Under Gage’s leadership, the Notre Dame Club of Central California has evolved into an active organization, successfully practicing the core values of all Notre Dame clubs: camaraderie, Catholic spirituality, continuing education, community service, current student support, and communications.
In addition to his service with the Notre Dame Club of Central California, Gage participates in several service, spiritual, and social organizations and activities that benefit his local community. He also is a member of the University of California at Davis Law Alumni Association Board of Directors and a member of the Rotary Club of Fresno.
