Role of Young Alumni Coordinators


Local club liaison between:
   o   Young alumni in the local club and nearby clubs
   o   The local club and the Young Alumni Directors on the National Alumni Board  
   o   The local club and young alumni in the area who are not yet club members

·  Encourage young alum participation in general club events by direct outreach and working with the event coordinators to make general club events more accessible (in terms of cost, timing, and activity) to a broader spectrum of people, especially young alums
·  Establish/Coordinate local young alumni events 
·  When needed, establishes a committee to assist in the planning, promotion and execution of programs that reflect the concerns of the local young alumni 
·  Maintains communications via phone, e-mail, or correspondence with young alumni in the club's area 
·  Share successful events with the club, the Young Alumni Directors, and the Alumni Association Office for possible features in club newsletters, websites, and Alumni Newsletter
·  Assist the club in finding a successor and communicating that information to the Young Alumni Directors and the Alumni Association Office 
·  Help identify nominees for the At-Large Director position on the National Alumni Board of Directors (Self-nominations are also encouraged!.) is encouraged to identify possible candidates for Alumni Association Awards, especially but not exclusively, the Young Alumni Award by contacting the Young Alumni Directors.

Getting the position filled:

·  Find the person who attends any club event and asks “how can I help” or says “I want to get involved” (very obvious)
·  Invite active YAs in the club to a general club board event planning meeting
·  Propose having co-coordinators to divide the workload
·  Ask to serve on a general club committee - then invite to lead one
·  Find someone who regularly attends events.
·  Initially put in charge of one activity and ask if they want to be in charge of coordinating young alumni activities (i.e. game watch coordinator).
·  Create a young alumni event planning committee of several people
